Aaron Fowler will participate in "Studio Squared" at The Studio Museum in Harlem on November 22nd. "Studio Squared" is a series of informal art-making workshops aimed at making a wide range of studio practices accessible to adult audiences. Each workshop focuses on a particular theme and creative process inspired by our exhibitions, and explores methods of creative production through an experiential approach.

Designed to engage the concept of the collective around the hallmark of Thanksgiving, this edition of Studio Squared invites exhibiting artist Aaron Fowler to build upon his most recent body of work, which explores the notion of triumph through pilgrimage. The program will begin with a tour of his deeply personal work included in A Constellation, during which Fowler will discuss the experiences surrounding his own pilgrimage from St. Louis to New York. The program will then move into the Museum's workshop, where participants will gather around the table and translate their communal experiences into drawing studies of those seated across from them. Fowler will then guide participants in collaboratively rendering these individual portraits in acrylic paint onto a large, shared canvas framed by the Thanksgiving dinner table motif.

About the artist: Aaron Fowler (USA, b. 1988) received his BFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA (2011) and his MFA from Yale University School of Art, New Haven, CT (2014). Current exhibitions include "A Constellation" (Curated by Amanda Hunt), The Studio Museum in Harlem and "The New New," at Diane Rosenstein, Los Angeles. Recent exhibitions include "So Much To She" (with Chris Watts) at Flanders Gallery, Raleigh, NC (2015) and Skowhegan PERFORMS, Socrates Sculpture Park, Queens, NY (2014).  He lives and works in Harlem, NY.
