Karin Apollonia Müller in "SKYWARD" @ Weatherspoon Art Museum opens Saturday, January 10th @ 1 - 5pm

Gallery artist Karin Apollonia Müller is included in "Skyward," a group show at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, University of North Carolina - Greensboro. Organized by director Nancy Doll, the show includes Karin Apollonia Müller, Sharon Harper, Trevor Paglen, and Demetrius Oliver.

"Skyward" presents the work of four artists who search and observe the skies for the subjects of their work. Sharon Harper often places a telescope lens on her camera for the long exposures that track the celestial movement of the moon and stars. Karin Apollonia Müller manipulates images of the earth from NASA photographs that show the clustering of lights over cities and continents. Demetrius Oliver’s work has included live telescopic projections, make-shift sculptural galaxies, and even a video of drawings of the moon made by Galileo. Trevor Paglen’s larger body of work deals with surveillance in its many forms. Two of the photographs in the exhibition are from his “Drone” series, which show the specks of these tracking devices in the midst of spacious, beautiful skies.

"Skyward" is presented in conjunction with “The Globe and the Cosmos,” a university-wide celebration of the 450th anniversary of the births of William Shakespeare and Galileo Galilei.
