Erin Desmond's Untitled (Eye Contact) (2014) will be performed at the gallery in conjuction with DEEP END: Yale MFA Photo 2014 (curated by Awol Erizku). The performances will take place every Saturday through August 23rd, from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. 

Untitled (Eye Contact) is an invitation to engage in a one­on­one, physical encounter within an enclosed space. Inside a curtain, facing a stranger, a hand is offered. If taken, the viewer’s gaze becomes the determining factor in how the interaction plays out. From a glance, to a stare; a touch of the fingertips, to a lengthy hand massage, the simple gestures of eye contact and hand contact create an experience that can be pleasurable, intimate, uncomfortable, or even anxiety ­producing. Subtle expressions invite one to confront personal and cultural boundaries and associations, and social connection is returned to its most primal form: physical touch.
