Diane Rosenstein is pleased to announce our debut participation in Paris Photo Los Angeles, the US edition of the world's most celebrated art fair for works created in the photographic medium.  Paris Photo is held from Friday, April 25th - Sunday April 27th, at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood. 

Diane Rosenstein Fine Art will present a solo exhibition of work by German-born photographer Karin Apollonia Müller. For her debut at the fair, DRFA will offer a carefully edited selection from 15 years of photographs, beginning with Civitas (1997)" from the acclaimed Angels in Fall (2001); and a rare diptych of Griffith (2007) from On Edge (2007) in which she emphasizes nature's overwhelming power during a fire in Griffith Park. The gallery will also present work from her 2011 series Gate (2011), which document the ethereal passageways between the material and the immaterial worlds. These photographs - never before shown in Los Angeles - include Seascape, TC, 9370 (2010), an ethereal and asymmetrical diptych.

Ms. Müller has photographed landscapes, mostly in Los Angeles and its peripheral environment since 1996. She uses photography to investigate the play between nature and cultivated spaces: how each tries to control the other. Her images are filled with the humor and sadness of chance juxtaposition, as well as the failure of the built environment to comply with the human imperative to order. Her interest centers on the human struggle to fit into an urban and natural landscape. 

Karin Apollonia Müller (GER, b. 1963) received her MFA with honors from the University GHS of Essen. She has received commissions from the J. Paul Getty/Cal Arts Foundation (2001), the Lannan Foundation (2000), and the DAAD Foundation (1995). Her photographs were exhibited in Into the Sunset: Photography's Image of the American West (2009) at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. MoMA, as well as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, are among the many public institutions that have exhibited and also hold Müller's work in their permanent collections. Karin Apollonia Muller lives and works in both California and Germany.
